Exciting progress with PACE's disc golf

PACE gets Disc Golf off the ground

PACE are excited to announce that they have been given the green light to go ahead and continue with the installation of a 9 hole community disc golf course to be situated in hall garth park, Hornsea.

PACE have campaigned to the town council about the benefits of creating more outdoor recreational facilities and the impact they can have on a sedentary community. As we know that increasing levels of physical activity can benefit and help maintain good mental health, we encourage more people to begin a more active lifestyle and also have lots of fun at the same time.

 The next phase of the disc golf project has begun and PACE is currently awaiting information and quotes from local civil groundwork engineers before the final basket installation can take place. Hall garth park which was once a mere in Hornsea, still holds a large amount of surface water and through the winter months doesn’t offer too many options for basket locations but PACE are delighted with the final course layout. The top soil and the first few feet of earth are mostly made up of soft wet peat and are not susceptible to foreign objects. Extra care and consideration has to be given to both the positions of the baskets and their insertion depths. Health and safety of the disc golf players and other park users is priority and all work will be completed to the highest standard with both parties satisfied before any rounds can be played.

Christian Sansam of PACE added;

“We are really happy that the town council could share our vision and introduce disc golf to the community of Hornsea. We can’t wait to get people outdoors and playing in disc golf tournaments it’ll surely be a lot of fun. Please give it a go I promise you won’t regret it!”

PACE hopes to have the new course open by April 2009 and ask the community of Holderness to give something new a chance this year and get involved in an activity that really will benefit the entire community.

Please check local press for further details and visit the PACE Service page for all upcoming disc golf events including the “Big Launch” due to take place during the summer of 2009.
